Bruckner began her acting career when she was eleven years old. In 1999, she starred on The Bold and the Beautiful show on the daytime and also in various television pilots. Bruckner's first leading role was for the role of Blue Car (2002), an independent feature in which she played a young girl from high school who had a relationship that included David Strathairn as her teacher. Film reviewer Roger Ebert wrote that Bruckner manages the difficult film with total conviction. Bruckner has received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for "Best Female Lead" for this role. Her family consisted of three brothers and a sibling. Her mother tongue was Hungarian, and she regularly trained in the language to become in the loop. Bruckner is an Hollywood California native born to the Hungarian and a Russian father who divorced their mother earlier in life, was raised by a German paternal grandmother. Her parents grew up in Hungary before emigrating from Hungary to U.S. in 1984 through an asylum camp in Italy. She has two sisters and one brother.
